Beach Vacay Packing List

Summer is officially here, and you know what that means… beach vacation time! While getting ready for relaxation mode, you may begin to think of the must-haves for your trip. However, this list can start to seem overwhelming when you add items that you don’t actually need to bring.

My #1 tip for packing for a summer beach vacation: don’t overpack! I know, easier said than done, but be honest, 9 times out of 10, those “just in case” items, rarely ever come out to play.

Here are 11 essential items for your summer beach vacation (in addition to a great natural sunscreen!) With these items in your suitcase, you will be perfectly prepared for that warm weather getaway.

1. Crochet Bathing Suit

Nothing quite says beach vacation like a bathing suit. I’m all about the crochet look, even when it comes to bathing suits. However, full crochet bathing suits might not work too well if you decide to take a dip in the ocean. Think heavy material and possible wardrobe malfunctions. No thanks! Instead, check out this Spandex/Crochet suit by KITTBAE. You can catch those waves and still achieve that super sexy look.

2. Lightweight Yoga Pants

Don’t want to feel guilty about indulging in vacation food? You don’t have to, so long as you put your body to some work. Yoga is a great form of exercise, especially when the beach is your studio. Add these super soft Quilt Ahead Midi Leggings by Beyond Yoga to your bag.

3. Transitional Bag

We all need that adorable bag to flaunt for those casual sunny afternoons and warm summer nights. In order to avoid overpacking, you want a bag that can transition with your look throughout the day. This Gaia Ark Bag by Cult Gaia is exactly what you need! It is the perfect size to travel with and it offers just the right amount of space to pack your “on the go” goodies.

4. Beach Roundie

Up your towel game this summer with the beach roundie. The unique designs are so fun. This round blanket is an essential accessory to enjoy your beach experience. The size is just perfect enough for the two of you I love the roundies designed by The Beach People. They are super well-made and very lightweight.

5. Moisturizing Lip Balm

Lip Balm may sound like something obvious to bring when you know you will be at the beach. However, it’s one thing we tend to overlook. Our lips need protection just as much as the rest of our body does. I especially like when my lip balm, not only has SPF, but also has a little tint to it. Supergoop! ACAI Fusion Lip Balm with SPF 30 delivers that shiny, smooth effect without the stickiness. You can still have a natural, soft, beachy lip and be protected.

6. Sunglasses

Don’t forget to protect your eyes from those bright rays. Nothing is worse than having to squint into the sun. Well, maybe raccoon eyes — so be sure to remove those sunnies when you’re ready to soak up the sun. I recently purchased these Acetate Fest Aviator Sunglasses by Madewell and they instantly completed my beach look.

7. Flowy Dress

Flowy dresses and beach days are the perfect pair. Fun, flowy, lightweight dresses allow for a nice, easy, breezy look, like this Monarch Maxi by Free People. When the temps reach the 90’s, sometimes jeans are just too tight, hot, and uncomfortable. There is just something about that romantic effect flowy dresses have! Just add some cute sandals (below), and some fun jewelry.

8. Water Bottle

Hydration is key when basking in the sun on the beach. Keep a reusable water bottle with you for all your beach outings and adventures. Whether you’re laying out, going for a swim or doing yoga on the beach, Beyond Yoga’s S’well water bottle is the perfect accessory for all day use and hydrating in style.

9. Day-to-Night Sandals

Shoes can be one of the heaviest things to pack. Keep those lbs down by bringing a sandal that you can wear both day and night. Just add a pair of flip-flops to wear to the beach and your vacation shoe game is set! This pair  of Kapri Sandals by Steve Madden is the perfect combination of effortless and chic! *also comes in black and olive.

10. Straw Hat

Straw hats are so much fun to wear on the beach. They look so cute with a suit and cover-up. It’s the worst when your scalp gets burnt. (Talk about pain and flakes—not fun!) A straw hat like this Salt Water Straw Hat by Free People will help keep that expensive dye job from fading and help to avoid an unwanted burn.

11. Moisturizer

Last but not least, one of the most important things we need to take care of is our face! After hours of being on the beach enjoying the warm sunshine, we must remember to moisturize. It helps keep that tan from fading and helps with the dryness we get from sunscreen. This Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base smells delicious and feels so refreshing.
