Q&A: Nicole Fuller

Nicole Fuller is a savvy and successful interior designer who spends her time between Los Angeles and New York City. She took some time to answer our questions about the bi-coastal lifestyle, summer decor tips and body image.

You live bi-coastal between Los Angeles and New York. What’s the best part about this?
Everything. I am so grateful and blessed to be able to live and work on both coasts. I have wonderful clients and friends in both places. I truly do have the best of both worlds.

Any hidden gems in New York that you can share with us?
New York is one of the most exciting cities in the world. There are so many fantastic places. To name a few of my faves: Indochine Restaurant, Beatrice Inn, Spa Soho House, Paul Kasmine Gallery for art, Five Story, Kirna Zabete, End of History for wonderful accessories for the home, Ralph Pucci for furnishings and incredible objects and Jar Boutique in Bergdorf Goodman for fragrance.

And any in LA?
Chateau Marmont, Nobu Malibu for dinner, Isabel Marant on Melrose Place, Curve boutique, JF Chen for accessories and vintage furnishings, Jean de Merry, Ralph Pucci and Sweet Lady Jane for triple berry cake.

As an interior designer, what are your home decor must-haves for summer?
Moody lighting, relaxed but chic furnishings, a chilled bottle of Rose, candles everywhere and Stevie Wonder.

Do you prefer designing homes in New York or in Los Angeles?
I love designing in both. The architecture in Los Angeles is different than in New York. In LA, you are also designing for an indoor-outdoor lifestyle because of the beautiful weather.

How do you approach these projects differently?
The lifestyle in LA is also more laid back. I approach every project the same way by always trying to exceed my clients expectations of what their vision is for the space.

What is your Beyond Yoga must have from the Summer 2015 collection?
I’m obsessed with the steel Salt and Pepper Stretch Capri Legging and Original Cami Top.

What do you do for exercise? Any fun classes or online workouts?
BBS – Body by Simone, pilates and a bit of yoga, as well. I’m a very active person in Los Angeles. I love a beautiful hike in the morning or a Soul Cycle class is always fun too.

In your opinion, what makes a woman beautiful? What makes you feel pretty?

When she loves herself and her confidence. Being able to share that with the world. Loving yourself with confidence is the most attractive thing.

When do you feel most proud of who you are?

When the people around me are happy. Either because of something I do, said or shared with them. Whether it be clients or friends. When I can make them feel truly happy, I feel the most proud.

In our experience, self love is the driving force behind happiness. How do you show yourself love?

I try to accept on a daily basis who I am both emotionally and mentally. I embrace who I am and try to be grateful for everything I have and everything I am. Pure gratitude.

Who inspires you? Why?

My mother has been my biggest inspiration. She’s incredibly creative, loving and beyond talented in every way. I’m also inspired by people, nature, art, landscape, architecture, travel, jewelry and fashion. I find beauty in most things.
