Happy Earth Day, ladies! Here at Beyond Yoga, we’re always looking for new ways to give back to Mother Earth, and this year, we may have found the best one yet. What if we told you that it’s possible to help the environment, get some exercise, and hang out with your friends all at the same time?
It is, in the form of a new craze called plogging! The lovely Ali Tate Cutler organized a plogging outing for her girlfriends in Brooklyn and brought us along for the run. We loved it so much that we just couldn’t wait to spread the word.
Below is everything you need to know to plan your own plogging outing with your girlfriends.
What is Plogging?
Simply put: plogging is when you go on a jog or run and pick up trash along the way. The eco-conscious fitness craze started in Sweden and is making its way around the globe. The term “plogging” is a combination of jogging and the Swedish “plocka upp,” meaning pick up. Plogging can be done solo or in groups for a fun, social activity.

How It Works
Pick a meet up spot at someone’s place or a central location. Distribute supplies to all your ladies.
Plan your route out together so everyone’s on the same page, stretch it out, and get plogging!
Put your gloves on. As you see trash along the way, pick it up and put it in your trash bag.
Once your bag is full, find a dumpster to discard it in.
Continue on with another bag if you’re up for it and repeat!
Pat yourself and your friends on the back for helping the environment.
