Fall Q&A: Lauren Lobley

What does fall represent to you?
Ah, fall. To me, it means magic. The crispness in the air, the beautiful changing leaves, the smell of the holidays on the way. It means cozy nights on the couch, lovely afternoon walks in the cool air, and, as a Canadian, fall means my favorite holiday – Thanksgiving – is almost upon us! And that means a celebration with the family among delicious foods that make my heart smile and my taste buds cheer!

Anything special that you do to transition from summer to fall?
Fall is my favorite season! To celebrate, I typically buy a few new fall items to freshen up my wardrobe – usually something chic but cozy! I also like to test out new fall recipes with all the yummy vegetables that come into season in the fall.

What is your #1 fall essential?
A cozy knit or cashmere sweater. Hands down.

What is your BEYOND YOGA must have from the fall 2014 collection?
Cozy Quilt Lounge Pants!

What do you do for exercise and where do you go to work out?
I have a triple threat where my workouts are concerned. It’s a combination of P90X, yoga, and trail running. You can find me on the trails at least twice a week in and around LA, and at my husband’s yoga studio in Malibu too.

What music is on your workout playlist right now?
Blurred Lines, Happy, old school Eminem – essentially anything that gets me pumped up to drown out the voices in my head that try to tell me to stop moving!

Any hidden gems that you can share?
Don Lee. I call him the body whisperer. He’s trained in Chinese medicine, and Reiki, and is an orthopedic acupuncturist. He has a magical way of fixing any of my aches and pains. I’ve sent so many of my friends to see him and they’ve all had the same experience. It’s hard to describe his method, which is why we call him the body whisperer. He works out of Santa Monica and Woodland Hills in LA.

Viva La Vegan. This is an amazing vegan grocery story in Santa Monica, CA where you can find everything from artisanal vegan cheeses to vegan frozen pizzas and everything in between.

Favorite fall food?
Butternut squash! I love cutting it into cubes and roasting it in the oven with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garam marsala. It’s colorful and beautiful, but also so tasty! It warms me to the core – I just love it! And you can make great soups with it as well as risotto, pasta, and pizza! So delicious.

If you could treat yourself to only one big purchase per season, what would it be?
This is a tough one. I would waver back and forth between cooking supplies and a new power outfit that makes me feel confident and sexy!

Favorite fall shoe?
My weathered brown riding boots. I love wearing them with black leggings and – you guessed it – a cozy knit sweater!

What is the next “IT” label?
It’s been around for a while, but I’m in love with British luxury brand, Jigsaw. They have classy, simple clothing that I just adore.

NAILS: color? art? PLAIN?

Big tote or small clutch?
Big tote.

What is your “go-to” uniform that you can wear from day to night?
Blue jeans, white tank top a black blazer and whatever color of converse running shoes I’m feeling like wearing that day.

And finally, what is your fall motto?
I don’t know that I have a fall motto, except to say that there must be at least one cozy night on the couch every week!
