Tulum Travel Diary & Tips

[image][image][image][image][image][image][image][image][image][image][endimages]It’s likely you’ve been hearing a lot about Tulum this summer, as it’s quickly becoming an international hot spot. Recently, our Chief Creative Officer Jodi Guber Brufsky traveled to the exotic location with some very dear friends and family.

Browse through Jodi’s travel photo diary above for a peek inside her trip. And, for those planning a trip to Tulum, here’s a roundup of some of our favorite hotels, restaurants and excursions.

There are so many great hotels in Tulum, but three in particular are on our hotlist.

We highly recommend staying at the brand new Sanara while in Tulum. It’s super clean and minimal, but very inviting. The rooms are chic in their simplicity. With AC, WIFI and a restaurant that caters to us healthy types, you can’t go wrong here!

Another great hotel option is Be Tulum. The boutique hotel is super charming, plus it’s located right across from Yaan Wellness Spa, which is a big plus if you plan on doing some serious spa time!

For the less bohemian types, we recommend the more high-end Esencia in Playa Del Carmen. The hotel is outside of Tulum, but it’s just a drive away from all of the main attractions.

Okay, let’s get to the important stuff! Where to eat?

Chic and charming, Posada Margarita is a restaurant on the beach with delicious Italian food. It’s perfect for a date night or for a charming dinner with friends by the water.

A definite hot spot, Hartwood will certainly have a line when you go. In fact, you have to wait in line just to sign up for a reservation! But, trust us, it’s totally worth it.

For a local feel in an enchanted jungle setting, El Tabano is the place. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the chefs are extremely creative!

Once you have your hotel and know where to dine, it’s important to plan some great adventures during your stay in Tulum.

Swimming in the unique, fresh water cenotes is a must during your time in Tulum! They are all full of natural beauty, but the best one we visited was the El Gran Cenote.

If you’re traveling with kids, we highly recommend going to the Zip Lines with Xplor. They were so much fun and the whole family will enjoy the experience.

In between dining, swimming and activities, take a little time for your own well-being.

The best thing we did in Tulum was Boga Yoga! It’s basically yoga on paddle boards in the water. Amazing, right? Sign up for a private lesson on the bay – you can thank us later!

If yoga on paddle boards isn’t your thing, try yoga on the beach during your stay! They offer some great classes at Sanara with a beautiful ocean view.

For yoga and wellness, visit the super serene Yaan Wellness Energy Spa. It’s so zen and peaceful, you can stay all day.

Bon voyage!
