As an LA-based brand, we don’t take having year-round access to parks, beaches, and hiking trails for granted. This Earth Month, we wanted to spend time taking care of our city’s natural resources and, in partnership with Well People, we invited members of our community to work in Kenneth Hahn Park in Culver City.
On a beautiful April morning, everyone arrived at the top of the park, which boasts a panoramic view of Los Angeles. After enjoying refreshments from GT’s Kombucha, Mush, and Possible Bars, we took a short stroll to a grassy hillside to learn about the project for the day from Tree People.Tree People is an organization on a mission to inspire, engage, and support people in taking personal responsibility for the urban environment.
Tiffany, our guide from Tree People, walked us through the importance of removing invasive plants and replacing them with native species. She also demonstrated the proper way to plant the new shrubs to give them the best chance of survival. We got to work removing mustard seed to clear space for over twenty new shrubs ready to call the park home.
We ended the morning under a canopy of trees, sharing words of gratitude for the opportunity tospend time with one another caring for and celebrating the Earth.
